University Medical Center (UMC) Utrecht is a major healthcare provider in the Netherlands. With its newly renovated state of the art operating rooms and intensive care, the UMC Utrecht is a referral center for patients from all over the Netherlands. Of wich about 800 open heart surgery procedures require the use of Cardio Pulmonary Bypass (CPB).

We are a referral center for Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD, Heartware and Heartmate) and ExtraCorporeal Life Support (ECLS) for heart and lung failure, in the pre- and postoperative setting as well as ExtraCorporeal CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR)

In addition to bypass operations and/or valve repairs/replacements, our cardiothoracic team in the UMC Utrecht has extended experience with heart and lung transplantation, ex-vivo lung perfusion, congenital adult cardiac surgery and complex aortic surgery.
